MARK SHEEN - SOUTH AFRICA

17th of April, 2011
5 days away from his return to Perth, Mark sent us this quick update,
Since Kilimajaro I have had an interesting trip to say the least. I visited special places such as the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara to see the most diverse range of big (and small) animals. We managed on the Safari to see all the main animals and it is just something which has to be done. After this I made my way, slowly to Victoria falls which shares a border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. This was some more spectacular scenery with very large amounts of recent rain. From here one could interact with animals like lions and cheetahs which I didn't think possible, at one stage I had three cheetahs cuddling and licking and purring my arm! Also the same with two 10 month old felines! From here it was by bus (to see the land) to Namibia and the amazing array of changes in sceneries. The desert sand dunes near the sea are another thing to see along with everything else.
Then there was the bus ride down to Cape Town. What a city if you're into beauty and history, and wine. I went to several wine areas, visited a township, went up Table mountain and Lions head, did bus tours, Robbens island (where Nelson Mandela and others were imprisoned) visits to outstanding capes, Saw beaches and penguins as well as other animals, and not to mention the white pointer shark dive which we saw 9 to 11 white sharks, sometimes hitting and biting the cage! From here I am making my way home slowly on the coast to Port Elizabeth so will be back home in a week. Hopefully I will be able to do a talk or at least inform everyone of how the trip went and just some of the many amazing things you can do in Southern Africa.
I will post a few pictures up soon, by for now!
