January 3rd, 2010 - Bic Sport JUNGLE SUP
My nephews’ first surfing experience was with me last summer on a borrowed SUP at Avalon Pt Mandurah. We surfed it tandem without the paddle and he was stoked! I was even more stoked so bought one the other day to get him out there again this summer with me. The Jungle is very user friendly and a do everything board with attachments for a seat to transform it into a kayak. It would be great for a Rotto tender – check it out!

December 6th, 2009 - Esbit COFFEE MAKER Stainless Steel
This is now one of my favourites in my kit. After using it for 3 days on the Donnelley River and making a brew for 3 of my mates in the morning it was a worthwhile purchase. It definitely needs to be out of the wind when brewing and does take a while (about the time it takes to pack a tent, sleeping bag and mat) but it’s not like we were in a rush to go anywhere fast. No instant coffee on my trips anymore...

November 16th, 2009 - Canoes for Family Fun
This is one to get the whole family or in my case borrowed family involved. Canoes are one of the most enjoyable paddle craft on the market and are often overlooked by many couples looking for a double kayak. These days canoes are lightweight, stiff and very durable and Mad River Canoes have a huge accessory range which slots into the gunwale system. Crabbing, fishing or doing an overnighter on the Blackwood are some of your options and many canoes can be paddled solo with ease. This is a photo of my nephew Mitchell and I on the Mandurah Estuary coming in after pulling some crabs pots.

October 26th, 2009 - Wilderness Systems Tarpon 140 Angler
After a week’s fishing at Exmouth using a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 140, this kayak definitely gets my nod of approval. With a length of 427cm (14ft) and width of 71cm this kayak is a very stable fishing platform.
The major difference with this angler is the Phase 3 Sit On Top (SOT) seating system. Not getting numb legs and sore back makes for a better day out on the water. And the amount of adjustability avaiable will suit anyone’s needs.
NB Fishing kayaks can be custom outfitted to whatever suits your style of fishing.

October 12th, 2009 - Mad River EXPLORER 14TT Canoe
Tick some ‘to do’ boxes with this Canadian Canoe from MadRiver. Solo the Blackwood, take the kids crabbing on the Swan River or go fishing for trout on the Murray River. Made from Trippletuff 3 layer polyethylene to handle all you throw at it and more. With its Shallow V-Hull for excellent secondary stability and tracking, the beginner to experienced paddler will enjoy this canoe.
Come into store and have a look. Mention AJ's Wetspot and we will include 2 SWELL paddles when you purchase this canoe.

SEPTEMBER 28th, 2009 - Harmony Sit-on-Top Fishing Backrest
If it’s comfort you are after then look no further. This is as good as it gets.
When you're fishing for an hour after work or sitting off Freo chasing a King George whiting, this seat will have your back and backside well looked after. With channels for drainage and ventilation, 2 secure rod holders for when you are paddling through some waves, a bladder sleave and lots of accessory attachment points (even bungie for your spray jacket) this backrest has it all.
Harmony have also stitched reflective piping around the backrest for high-visibility in low light conditions.
A lot of thought has gone into this seat!

SEPTEMBER 4th, 2009 - WIlderness Systems Ripper
The name says it all. This Sit-on-Top is a great for ages 6 and up. It literally is a beginners boat and a toy for the rest of us. Great for those summer days down the beach or around the islands (eg over at Rotto). An excellent addition to the holiday house quiver, this is one the kids will love and the adults will have to fight them for a turn.
It all comes standard with a backrest, built in handles, 6 inch day hatch and soft grip end handles. An obvious fast seller in the warmer months, the Ripper is now in stock. Check them out!

AUGUST 28th, 2009 - Adventure Technology - Columbia Carbon Paddle
We have had this paddle for a few months now and it has been used and abused mainly down the Avon River before, during and after the Avon Descent. This paddle is designed for use at high angle with blades that are asymmetric with a dihedral face which puts less strain on your body allowing you paddle all day with less strain. Each paddle has a Featherlok Adjustment System which can give you up to 5cm of extra length and any offset angle from 0 through 90 degrees to suit your stroke.
The paddle has got plenty of grunt making it great for fitness and racing, not to mention the AT crank shaft which improves control and alleviates stress on your joints. They are available in Carbon fibre and Glass fibre and if you buy them online heaps cheaper. Check them out!

AUGUST 14th, 2009 - Lettman Magellan Sea Kayak LCS
The Lettmann Magellan Sea Kayak LCS (carbon Kevlar) is an excellent expedition sea kayak. Great capacity, hull speed and excellent stability. The layup is far ahead of anything else on the Australian market. Layup includes a scratch layer, 2 layers of Carbon/Kevlar hybrid with a peel ply finish on the hull. This produces a light weight yet strong, stiff hull which can handle heavy impacts. For the deck they use a scratch layer then one layer of Carbon/Kevlar, a layer of full Carbon and Kevlar tape for the join.
Features include 4 Kayjaksport hatches, flip rudder, a deck net, adjustable seat, deck line, clear C-Through bulkheads and all the other usuals.
A beautiful kayak to paddle on your next trip to Shark Bay, Exmouth or exploring some of our many inlets down south. Call 9284 3759 to arrange a demo.

AUGUST 7th, 2009 - Wilderness Systems TARPON 160 with Rudder
There has been a lot of talk from customers in the past few weeks about catching snapper off our local beaches from kayaks. Kayaks are becoming increasingly popular as a means of a fishing platform. Kayak fishing is one of the biggest growing sports in the USA and Australia being a bit behind the times is finally starting to catch up to the US. Cockburn Sound is a great spot to start fishing for pinkies from a kayak and Mainpeak Paddlesports is a great place to check out all the new kayaks toys that are going crazy in the USA. We have several fishing kayaks in store including angler kits for popular models like the Wilderness Systems Tarpon.
